Earning potential
There are 17 colleges and technical institutes in
Alberta that provide hard numbers showing that
graduates from the province's colleges do get jobs and
do achieve higher income levels. Alberta Advanced
Education and Technology reports an impressive 98
per cent employment rate for graduates. Students
typically enjoy an attractive 16 per cent annual return
on their investment of time and money. For every
$1 that they invest in a college education from an
Alberta institute of higher learning, they receive a
cumulative $4.50 in higher future earnings over the
next 30 years.

How much will it cost?
There is a wide variety of scholarships, bursaries,
awards and grants administered by the province
and individual institutions. Scholarships and
other financial assistance programs are not only
available for high academic achievement; there
are hundreds of sources for career development,
specific part-time/short-term courses, athletics,
apprenticeship, Aboriginal students, and for high
school, post-secondary, graduate and upgrading
students. It's estimated that one out of every
eight students receives financial support and
more than half use student loan programs.
Tuition rates, materials costs, lab fees, student
association fees and other fees vary significantly
among the institutions.
